I've been throwing some ideas around. It's down to 3... Body lift, the AC steering setup (not sure about this, waiting for feedback from people who have it), and lastly waiting for the eatons lockers to come out.
What do you guys think? |

2" body lift so I can run tire chains. Also new homemade rear bumper will be in the works soon.

AC A Arms, high angle Ball Joints, and a Calmini Idler arm brace.
You are saying you aren't going to buy anything until you get one of those? I bet you get something else before then.... Matt

Can I still borrow the Volvo if I get the body lift?

Not sure, I don't have the chains yet.
I would guess not, though. The tires hit the fuel filler neck pretty bad as it is (although the AAL's helped), and I could see chains very rapidly destroying it. The one's I have picked out are pretty aggressive. (http://www.tirechain.com/16INCHTRUCKCHAINS.HTM -> Scrool down to "V-BAR") I also want the body lift for better approach/departure angles (the approach may take some coaxing with the cutting torch, though).

I would think that with a low profile (cable-type) chain used on the road, you'd be fine. I'll take a second look tonight and see if I can give you a measurement on how much room is between the tire sidewall and the inside of the fender. I want the chains primarily for off-road & extreme conditions, they would not be a regular thing. I just want to make sure they won't do major damage. A little rubbing wouldn't bother me.

Oh yeah, one of those weird "mountain things". We don't have those here in Missouri. Yet another reason it sucks here.

I think my next mod will be to add some clamps to hold my Maglite. I'm just trying to determine the best place to put it.

I just installed dual air hornes, a trans cooler and 2 BFG KM to replace two of my worn out muds.
Next: dual tow-hooks up front and a hi-lift. Feb: 2" Body Lift in preparation for 33" KMs. May: Full SR Skids

What can I afford...
Next up will either be the PIAA 520's or the Nissan Cat Back Exhaust. It's all up to the utility companies :finger: over the winter on which I can afford if not both.

Just a couple dumb questions...
Does Washington have chain laws for 4WD's ? I think we get more snow here in Colorado, and chain laws only apply to 2WD vehicles. After 22 years driving in Colorado, I've used chains once, on my 74 Pinto. I've never needed them on a 4WD, even in 2+ feet of snow. Running chains on one axle is a bad idea as it changes the effective diameter of the tire which can lead to wear in the transfer case, since the front end will be turning faster than the rear end. Are you doing this just because of the law ? Chris, does it snow in Missouri enough to warrant a body lift just for chains ?
