S10 Maint

Couple questions.

I just got a 94 S10 with the 4.3 Vortech and manual transmission. It's got about 130K on it, and I know the tranny has never been serviced, Should I have the fluid changed, or does it have to many miles on it. Some people say to leave it after so many miles. Also, any info or tips I can get on what to watch out for or take care of now would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: S10 Maint

I also have a 94 S10 4.3, though mine is auto.

Changing the fluid and trans fluid filter won't hurt. I change my trans fluid every 40K miles, I'm told you onlt have to change it every 50K. You can do it yourself, not too difficult. I've done mine twice.

Like I said, it can't hurt and can only help.

Many people do say its a bad idea to change fluid in a tranny after going to long. I have heard many people describe it as putting the tranny in "shock". But I never heard this about a manual.
