Toyota VIN's? anybody know info?

Hi everybody. I been looking at some supras, well basically I'm just waiting for the right opportunity. There isn't that many in NY and whatever there is are overpriced. I'm looking for some help with VIN numbers. Can anybody tell me where I can find some info on the net that explains Toyota's VIN #'s? Also I need some specs on stock supra? Lots of info I wanna read, so anything is appreciated. Thanks

I believe this site will take care of all your "stock specs" questions.

As for the VIN what do you want to know? There are a few different parts to the engine bay tag that can tell you some things, such as if the car origionally had LSD, not much to learn though. I actually find it easier to just poke my head under the car and see if there is a yellow "LSD" tag on the rear differential. Toyota did start putting the 7m-gte into MA71 bodies and the 7m-ge into MA70 bodies, but after 88 they stopped that.

I'm interested in 93-98 supra. About the VIN's i was just trying to find something that would tell me what each character means and what the options were. Just like you would need to know if you were to restore it. I am only looking at cars on the internet so I can't look at the differential. It would be nice if that link had more info for the 93-98 supra. Thanks for the info and any more is appreciated.

Alright I see, didn't know you were looking for a MKIV. Pretty much everything you'll need short of actually driving the car can be had by doing a carfax report, they don't always get everything so you still need to be very weary and know what to look for in person, even if it's a clear report. Some owners who have taken very nice care of there Supra's will still have the origional window sticker and that will give you all the smaller options the carfax doesn't.

Can you tell me what is the most informative site for supra. Also two quick easy questions. What is stock weight for 93-98 TT with leater seats. Is the engine steel with a aluminum head or all aluminum. I'm pretty sure it is steel, so does anybody offer aluminum engine blocks. Is transmission aluminum.
