Question Brake Rotors

I got a pair of rotors from the junkyard and when trying to install them the caliper mounting bracket makes contact with these rotors. The bracket fits my current rotors just fine, and the rotors I have are off a 1990 four door DX (I assume it had a North American VIN). I have a 91 Civic SE (4d, d15b2; Japanesse VIN), should these brake systems be different? This weekend I am going to go get the caliper brackets off that car and see if they fit mine since the rotors I took off the car were barely used. I'd like to hear if someone else had this problem, and especially if the mounting brackets have the same dimensions and are interchangeable.

Re: Brake Rotors

rotors the same size? Some of the 91's had the 10 inch brakes instead of the 9 inch brakes like the majority of 88-91 civic/CRX's carried. Since yours is Japanese I honeslty can't say but that could be a reason.

that would be my guess as well, the dx came with the 9'ers and the ex had the 10's.

The rotors are the same diameter and fit the hub well. The overall construction seems to be different and because of that, the portion of the caliper retainer that holds the outer pad makes contact with the rotor. My car is NOT a JDM civic, it was just assembled in Japan, presumably with more or less the same parts as other D15B2 powereed civics. I tried installing the rotors on my sister's 1993 DX Coupe late last night and they fit fine on her civic, but hers was assembled in North America.
I think the rotor setup is different so I am going to see if installing the caliper retainers off a 1GH******* will work. My rough measurements show the retainers to be the same size where they mate with the hub.
