Question 96 ford probe gt 2.5L

My probe is having major rpm issues and i am thinking it has something to do with my air intake box, i replaced that but there is a crack in the elbow shaped piece that is attached to the back of it...i know that could be A problem but would it cause that? Also, I have an overheating issue too! I replaced the thermostat and checked the radiator for holes any other suggestions??

thanks a bunch
