Question Something Wrong!!!!

Hi in advance anyone reading this, thanks for taking time to do so, I bought a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse (Auto Transmission), 1.8 L and this morning when I turned the car on, the RPM's revved up to 2,000, without pressing on the gas pedal. Can anyone tell me why my car does that now?

I just had a new rebuilt transmission put in, bcuz 2 weeks ago my car's transmission totally messed up. You ask how: I was driving through McDonald's parking lot and I come to a stop sign. Just as Im about to stop my car revvs up and jumps forward?!?!?! So now Im stopped at the stop sign thinking, what the hell that noise was? I press down on the gas and nothing! I move it down to 1 and nothing same for 2. I shift to R and nothing. So obviously it was my "torque convertor". I take it to a repair shop and they instal a rebuilt tranny (mentioned above) and I drive it for 1 week ( 5 days )... and take it back for the "check up" after repairs. On the way there my car begins to kick continuoulsy 9 or 10 time. When I say kick it feels like Im shifting but all Im doing is pressing on the gas. Whenever I slowed down to 20-25 it drags back as if I down shifted and when I accelerate from 20-25 it revvs up to about 4,000 RPM's? So I make it to the shop and they "fix it" and I get it back after the weekend. Everythting is going good, my 5 days are up and Im on my way to the shop for the "check up" after repairs. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD!!! I turn my car on, and *RPM's are revving* like mentioned, and as Im on my way to the mechanic shop my "Engine Check" light comes on and my car does something else odd. If I press down HARD on the gas it kicks ( liek shifting ) but if I lightly press ( barely pressing on ) it goes fine. No doubt my caris all kinds of SCREWED but can anyone tell me their opinion, all are going to be helpful. So with it screwing up and kicking as I press down I pull into a parking lot and check under my hood. Everything appears in place and normal. I get back into my car and I put it into R and nothing.... and back in D and nothing and so forth. So Im back and step 1!!! SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! I KNOW I KNOW my car is doomed but please help, and oh yea STAY DRUG FREE!

Probably something with the timing belt. Thats if the torque converter was properly fixed, or fixed at all, and if you know there is absolutely nothing to do with the trans

Re: Re: Something Wrong!!!!

Does your car's RPM idle go down after the engine warms up? Cuz if it does then there can be something with the engine block heater and/or the timing belt, had that happen to my talon

Re: Something Wrong!!!!

It goes down right away, at least on mine. Just goes up to 2k ish and then back down to normal idle.
Thats why I thought it was normal.

Thumbs down

When it is in P it revvs up to about 2 RPM's... and when I put the gear into D it idles down... some. Is that regular or what? I dont think it is, someone told me that their could be a vaccum leak in the intake monifold? ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?!!
