First Drawing - R33

Hey guys, heres a pic of the start of my first REAL (as in, actually work on it) drawing. I just started it tonight, whacha think so far? Sorry for the colour, I took it with my digi cam since my scanner isnt hooked up yet. Completely freehand, my first freehand drawing as well! ;o

It looks good so far.

What kind of paper are you using. Coz, what youre using looks too "rough" it looks like medium "roughness". Try to find some smooth paper, like Bristol Smooth.

I agree with GTmike400 on this one.

Also take your time. It looks like you're going to end up with a nice piece.

Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Exclamation Lotus

metal, you should add contrast(more black). I did that with this Lotus Elise.

Re: First Drawing - R33

Got another pic, I just gave it some more contrast like corght suggested, and I guess I should have used better paper. Wow I'm horrible at drawing rims lol ; I'm using printer paper :P hehehe....Blurry pic

Re: First Drawing - R33

Yeah, you'll realize in the fututre that Priner paper is not the best for drawing. The main reason is that it is too damn small. I got a stack of 200+ sketch sheets (14x17) for about 10$. It's worth the invesment, this way you won't be restricted, size wise. From there you will be able to go even higher sizes, more freedom.

Re: First Drawing - R33

Yeah, I'm thinking of picking up a pad of really smooth paper at the art store tomorrow while I'm downtown. Thanks for the advice

Re: First Drawing - R33

Dude, you have no idea what it means to suck at drawing rims... Okay, remember when you saw a kid drawing a car in kindergarten and you were like "Wow dude, you should NOT become an artist." Yeh, I was that kid, only now, I'm in college.

I used to be able to draw pretty well, although I had never attempted rims before, but for some reason, after my junior year in high school, I lost all drawing talent. I think my drawings required a certain level of angst that I lost once I moved away from that shit hole little town.

I only draw with mechanical pencils anyway, maybe the lack of those contributes to it =P Eitherway, although I'd like to start drawing again (and if I go for an art degree in MMD, I'll have to) I think I have too much of a problem with the fact that I can so easily fuck up a drawing beyond all repair.

That and the hand cramps. Oh, god, the hand cramps.
