Interior seat colors.........

The other day, me and my friend got together to play a few movies. Since he drives an 89' DX hatch I decided to finally get a good look in the interior. His car was red so the interior was black, but the funny thing was that his seats where a black cloth and his rear seats where black cloth. Now what a second...... I thought the hatches with the black interior had a grayish/white colored seats on both the front and rear? He said he never noticed before since he bought it off an old lady. What colors did the seats come in with? I'm actually lookin to get rid of my vinyl seats and since my car is blue the interior is blue. Did they make blue cloth seats also or are they black? And one more thing, how can you tell the difference between Si rear seats and Dx rear seats? Any pictures you guys have would help.

Re: Interior seat colors.........

Std: vinyl seats
DX: cloth seats
Si: Square head rest, cloth (US), and Dark grey w/ lines in the middle part. The pattern differs between 88/89 and 90/91

DX and Std seats look the same except ones vinyl and ones cloth
If I can find some pics I post them

Well, if no one knows the answer to that one, then here's another question. What color seat cloth did the DX blue and white hatches come with? Because I've only seen the white/gray seats. Are they blue or dark grey. And since I need to replace my vinyl, I'm lookin at takin the cover of the seats and changin them since they are virtually the same. Is this possible for both rear and front?

Re: Interior seat colors.........

Believe me when I say it will be alot of work involved in taking the covers off.. When I swapped out my seats for Si ones, I had to swap seat pans and rails. So in doing that, I basically had to take the seat apart. I put 88/89 Si's seats in my '91 Hatch. Anyways, I just got around to throwing the old vinyl ones away. Before the trash men got there, I figured I would tear the covering off so that I can see how hard/easy it would be to recover mines (if I ever wanted to) There are alot of hidden clips and bolts.

Re: Interior seat colors.........

When I bought my car, I went to the junkyard and picked up passenger seat to swap for the torn up front drivers. Turns out they aren't changeable because of the seat belt lock. So I just swaped top covers of the mine and the new seat and it worked. I will admit it wasn't easy, but in the long run it was worth it at the time. Now I can't stand vinyl and want to get rid of it with some cloth. Where I live, there aren't too many Si's, but there a hundred or so DX's and Std civics. So I'm thinking of swapping.

Would the white gray seats look okay with the blue interior?
