New POS tow vehicle

Picked up a truck to pull some POSs around with. Been driving it for a week, and I'm very happy with it. Its got a few mods. I cant wait to run it and see what it does in the quarter. This heavy bastard really gets moving when the turbo spools up. Some info and pics on this page I tossed together for the truck, if anyone is interested.

http://www.posracing.net/POStowrig.html

With the 5th wheel hitch and the wifes boss's 3 car ramp trailer, I'm planning on dragging 3 of the POS cars out to the shootout... Be nice to know that I can break the car and still make the 700 mile trip home, lmao.

Re: New POS tow vehicle

I was expecting a 1987.5 Mitsu Mighty Max 4g64, that's a damn expensive 'towing rig'. Sadly it's putting down more power than I am by far. :P Looks good.

Re: New POS tow vehicle

Thanks guys. The thing I'm most excited about is having AC for the long hot ride to Ohio. I must be getting old

How did POSr run? Not sure who you mean by everyone. No one up here has run yet though. The tracks opening was delayed because the pits are still a mud bog. I could always drag race the truck in 4wd through the mud, I'll have to ask the track why they dont think of these things...

Looks like I may be tossing Chads turbo on my car wednesday while he waits for some more work to get done, and I wait for my new turbo. The other option was a friends GT14 that he isnt using yet. If the track doesnt open wed night, its not looking good for this week, they're saying rain for friday up here...

i kind of used it but didnt! i put a manual button in that attaches to the shift knob and right off the launch i would hit the button for about a second then let it go, i havent really had much experience with it yet so i am taking my time to get use to it so i dont fuck anything up! this next weekend is funday sunday so i will be there again hopefully will be lower than 12.5 but who knows... i am getting use to the nitrous so i might feel temped to use it in every gear, which should definatly bring be 2-3 tenths of a second faster! who know... only the time slip will tell! anyways kevin i want some numbers damnit! j/k good luck if you guys do go out on wednesday!

Re: New POS tow vehicle

I was checking that site out a couple days ago. Found the link perusing the turbo diesel forums. I also found a shop that is local to me, I Think its www.bluechipdiesel.com or similar. A local DSMer told me a long time ago that his uncle runs a diesel tuner shop, and I believe thats it. Small world. Short ride for me, so that could come in handy

Just got back from the registry... Sales tax and registration = 1100 bucks... I dont know how people can afford to buy these things new!

Re: New POS tow vehicle

Id just like to be able to afford a V8 truck to tow my car. 2hrs to the track, thats an expensive tow bill if I break something.

Re: New POS tow vehicle

sweet truck! the next mod MUST be some trucker mudflaps, you know with the hooker chick? for sure, dude. and be sure to take good care of the tranny. there are a lot of big trucks where i am and all of them complain about the tranny. even my stepdad has a dually lifted like 10" on 35" tires, V8 turbo deisel, chip, has made 10+ cross country trips w/35' 5th wheel in tow. 3 new tranny's

Re: New POS tow vehicle

I have heard about tranny issues, especially on the dodges. I'm going to treat this situation just like the DSM, also known for breaking trannys at a certain point. If you break the stocker, dont just repair to to save a bucks. Toss a shep or TRE tranny in there. For the dodge, ATS diesel seems to have the best thing going. The tranny is only 2100 bucks fully built. The kick in the ass is the 1300 dollar converter
