Question 6 month licence loss

Hey guys
I'm from Melbourne, Oz.
The cops pulled me over on sat night doin 97 in a 60 zone...6 months licence loss ( good thing it was a steep uphill road or could have been much worse!!) . These may seem like dumb qustions but any body know if there is any way to get out of the licence cancellation? Also, does a suspended licence mean I now have a criminal record/conviction and wont be able to work in certain jobs?
Cheers.

sorry to hear you lost your license man. No, you won't get any criminal record, you'll just get the license back in 6 months and you'll have to pay the ticket. Man you were pretty unlucky, my mate got caught doing 170kph in a 60zone but the cop was nice enough to reduce it to 120 in a 60 zone so that my friend could keep his license. The ticket would have given you a heart attack though, you wouldn't believe me if i told you how much he paid but lets just say it was well over $1000 in ticket but at least he got to keep his license coz the cop was a nice guy. This is in NSW though, maybe they're stricter in melbourne.

No real way to get out of losing your license, you could possibly go to court and appeal to the judge and say that it was your first offense, he might be easier on the suspension and reduce it or cancel the suspension all together, but i doubt it, but hey why not give it a go, you got nothing to lose. Oh, if you depend heavily on your car as a means to get to work, like say if you work very far or busses don't run that route or even if you're a driver of some sort (pizza delivery for example), you might be able to convince the judge to let you keep your license if you can convince him that your job and employment is dependant on it. Sorry to hear about your problem and good luck mate.
