Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

So I recently changed my headlights and the fog lamps, and now I think they are all out of whack. I did mark a wall before taking the old ones out, but they just don't look right...I think they are pointed to high. What's the easiest way to realign them now? Any tips?
The car is a 02 GTP btw. Don't know if that matters, but figured I'd throw that in there.

there are adjustment screws. they are easy to access and not real hard to find. just play around with them till you get them to where you want it. i adjusted mine up a little...with stock bulbs i see about twice as far..just blind a few people now..lol

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

I hated the stock bulbs on my '97...they sucked. I could see better with my lights on dim than I could with them on bright, and people used to flash their lights at me when I had my dims on like they thought I had them on bright, and I'm not much wilder about my '99. I want Sylvania Silverstar bulbs...Walmart has them, I just haven't had the nerve to shell out that much money for headlight bulbs.

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

Thanks...I see the adjustment screws. Of course, I just don't know how far up or down is the correct position. I feel like they are too high...I see far, but the road in front isn't as bright. btw, I have the silverstars...both heads and fogs...they look great, and they really are much brighter! Maybe that's why I'm noticing the misalignment...they probably were always misaligned, but now that they are so much brighter, I notice them more.

The easiest way to aim them is to park in front of a wall so that you can tell when they move. The correct position just depends on personal preference...you can aim them a little higer, like fast98gtp, see a little farther and blind a few people, or a little lower so that the road directly in front of you is a little brighter. It's all up to you.

i never thought stock bulbs would work so well tho with just a little adjustment. i see the road just fine..far ahead and up close. i know i blind people, but that's what they get-- with those bright-ass bulbs in their suvs always blinding me.. i blind em right back.

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

How far from the wall should I be? And technically, isn't there some kind of legal standard for where the bulbs should be pointed? I'm sure its not anything I would get pulled over for, but I was hoping to start with where they "should" be, and then adjust to my liking from there.
For instances...say the "standard" is 20 feet from a wall, the center of the light should be 3 feet off the ground....that's the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

Hey fast98gtp...do they ever flash their brights at you when you meet them? That used to happen to me all the time in my '97...those headlights were in serious need of adjusting...they weren't just a little high...they were a LOT high. Especially my brights, the only reason I could see worth a crap with my dims was because of my fogs.

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

To adjust the best place to go is to a large parking lot at night. Point your car at any direction and start playing with the adjustment screws until you feel is the way it should be. The ligths probably always were correct, but, everytime you take the capsule out and reinstall it even tought you marked it. It will disallign, I do not know why but will happen always

Re: Any tips for aiming headlights and fog lamps?

There is a standard way to aim them as you've requested with parking a certain distance from a wall or your garage door then adjusting height of light and left to right balance. When I get out to my garage later today, I will check this then reply with proper proceudre.
