Automatic or Manual

I am purchasing a 1990 Toyota celica GT; its a good deal. But it is an automatic should i put body kit on and scoop and wing and fix engine. Or should I drive it sell it, then fix the next car thats a manual. If do it I need advice on how to get horses. I need all the advice I can get from people who know. By the way it is the 2.2 lt DOHC with 135 horses stock and 140 t. What intakes exhaust ? what to do.

Re: Automatic or Manual

im jus saying though, if you got the same car yeah the manual would be faster because of the shift ratio, but if its a celica auto and a civiv manual, same driver, the celica's tiem would beat it

Re: Automatic or Manual

MANUAL is the only way to go man...if your going to make a car bad ass(ie. body kit, rims, interior, ect.) you have to haveit manual...i make fun of every car i see thats euroed out and is auto. an automatic transmission takes 10% of your power instantly...like if you have an auto and u dyno it they say to add 10% power to it to make up for the loss...and also if you do it right a manual transmission shifts WAY faster than an auto. you can also choose when to shift it...3,000...or 7,000....and yes...it is WAY more fun

Re: Automatic or Manual

dude i know manual is a ton better, and its a waste to make anything out of an automatic, i mean the automatic for the celica even costs more, and it does shift faster thats the shift ratio, and its alot funner until traffic picks up. and i watch what goes on with celica's over ebay and everytime i see a tricked car i say that looks nice, then i notice the tranny, if its auto i instantly hit the back key.

Re: Automatic or Manual

I need some help on how to make it fast anyway because i am going to be driving it for awhile. I totally agree it is way funner. But if you tune your car right no human can possibly shift as fast as a machine

You gotta keep an eye on your syncronizers too, but your right, it can all be fixed one way or the other as long as you can afford it.. I can't so I have to take care of my tranny the best that I can.. I have the ability to speed shift but I try my hardest not to do it, but in the heat of a race you have few other options.. Double clutching out of first and second will definately get you where you wanna be too..

OH NO FNF got u too!!!!!!!!!!! double clutching is a DOWNSHIFT TECHNIQUE not and upshift...gat fast and furious put the idea of doubleclutch upshift into peoples minds

Doubleclutching is a technique to release excess pressure, IE you clutch from 3rd to neutral...rev it to 3000 rms ( or whatever your use to shifting at from 2nd to 3rd) then you clutch in to 2nd gear... makes it so your car dosent jerk and you dont shred the shit outta your flywheel and pressure plate after usign shots of nos or when your running lots of boost
the point is to not lay on yoour clutch so you dont shred the shit outta it

and upshift double clutch is not possible/ not nessicerey... why would you clutch into neutral rev it up and clutch into the next gear when that does the same thign as clutching it into the gear while reving it up

i feel bad...gay fasty n furious
