ls Heat shield removal

Hey I'm trying to put a short shifter in a 91 ls and it grinds against the heat shield when shifting. Is there any way to take this off w/out removing my exhaust?

i have taken the back end off of my heat shield without removing my exhaust, so u probabably can with some good tools. have u just tried bending your heat shield away from the shifter? just a suggestion.
