question about tire damage

my 99 4x4 has bridgestone duellers on it and while cleaning it up over the weekend I noticed a gash on the front right sidewall. The gash is about 4 inches long and varies from surface to 3.3 mm deep. My question is: how thick is the average sidewall? Is this gash deep enough to be a concern or can I expect a slow leak to develop as oppposed to a massive blow out?

First thing I'd do, swap it to the back. That way if it happens to blow, it wont make you wreck. According to what you described, the tire probably needs replacing seeing as how the gash is on the sidewall. You could go to your tire shop where you got them and see if theres some kind of road-hazzard warranty available. I have a set of Duelers at home that I can't use because of a hole in the sidewall. I have fixed tires for about 7 years, and I'm gonna try a new kind of patch that's out that may fix it. If it will help you, I'll let you know. Oh yeah, most sidewalls are 2 ply's thick. BF Goodrich are 3 and I think some of the heavy rockcrawler tires and some heavier load tires are 4 ply's

Thanx man. I'm gonna rotate it today. I read up on bridgestone site about these tires (revo's) they have a spiral wind that should reduce the chance of blow out but it will still probably develop a slow leak at best. The tires were on the truck when I got it about a month ago so I guess this will be my excuses to start shopping for mudders.
I'm wondering if I can clear 305/70's since the front has been cranked level?

I have seen 305's on a stock truck, I dunno how much trimming they had to do though. I can't crank my bars anymore, so theres no way I can fit 305's. MY drivers side is fully up and the pass side has like half a bolt left...
