Re: wtf is this??

That is a breather filter, it is aftermarket, there is a hose running from there to the intake pipe stock. Some people change it to a filter. I have mine like that and have for some time now. It is not anything that will really help you any though unless you go boost, but then I would just do a catch can instead.

Re: wtf is this??

to tell u the truth, that thing is more of an engine ornament. it's not like ur going to gain any horsepower off of it. i admit, i had one on my crx and it looked cool but that was probably its only purpose.

if anyone is thinking of getting this eventhough they already got a cai, i wouldn't reccomend it. just use the stockhose and connect it to the cai so u get cold air, instead of the hot air from the engine bay. of course, if they want it for engine dress ups, then by all means, get it.

Re: wtf is this??

It is just part of the Positive crankcase ventalation system (PCV). You change it when you go boosted b/c you don't want to force boost onto the crankcase lol.

Re: wtf is this??

hmm, that makes sense.. lol

ok a couple other questions that are completely off this topic... i just didn't want to start another thread.

will i need to get a new MAP sensor or use check valves if i'm running boost but have the aem ems?

also, is getting the crank blueprinted worth it? if so how much would it cost me?

i love flaming my own threads

Re: wtf is this??

Ha, what a dip. You don't need to blueprint a crank unless you are doing a full engine rebuild. Even then it may not be nessicary....
A new map sensor it not needed, just a little devices that goes between the intake and sensor.
By saying "running boost" do you mean Turbo? if so, than yes, then it is recommended to check and do a Valve Lash. (that means adjust, for the dumber people.

You can get check valves to fool the map sensor from reading boost. recomended only up to 7psi

if you are are using aem ems.. then you'll prob need a 2-3 bar map sensor.

oh and the breather is for the oil vapors to dissapate.

lol well if you can buy a 1200 fuel management system then.. a 3 bar map sensor shouldn't be a prob.

Re: wtf is this??

Try looking into Hondata I think for a street driven car (not strickly race only) hondata is better than the AEM ems. Yea the AEM unit does a few more things than the hondata but the hondata does everything you need it to do and then some. You can run the hondata and a GM 3 bar map sensor along with some bigger fuel injectors, a bigger fuel pump, and a FPR and there you have a very nice fuel management setup, far better than any of the FMU units that comes with turbo kits.
