whats the difference between a stock 1995 civic ex and a stock 1995 civic si? both hatchbacks

The EX didn't come as a hatchback. Only the coupes and sedans have an EX model. The Si is the exact same thing as the EX, except it's in hatchback form.

5th generation Si's and EX's both had the D16Z6 motor. Same with the 4th generation Si's and EX's, they both came with the D16A6 motor. 6th and 7th generation Si's and EX's came with different motors.
