Hello there everybody.
Got a good question: Background: I have a 81 Jeep cj5 with a 350. The 350 is a pre-1983 "LM-1" chevy motor. Runs great and everything. Question: The guy before me removed the timing mark from the timing chain cover. I bought a new timing marker but do not know what two bolt to attach it to. Could someone point to a place where they have information like this or tell me where this thing goes ???? I have to replace the intake and I want to make sure the engine is at TDC before I take off the HEI distrubutor. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: Need to find TDC, Please help ?
you don't necessarily have to but the engine at tdc to remove the intake i never do. what i do is remove the distributor cap and mark the rotor position with the distributor as well as the distributor position with something else like the firewall or intake. as long as you don't turn the motor everything will be fine, however it's still good practice to check the timing after a job like this. if i remember right the timing marker is located at approximately the 2'clock position. it should only bolt to one position where the curve of the marker is realy close to the damper. good luck
