Tranny Temp

I was recently driving my 04 ws6(comp g) fairly hard and noticed after heavy use of the tap shift my factory tranny temp gauge reached 221 but wouldnt go any higher. 1st off is 221 bad (never had a tranny temp gauge before) and is this as high as my factory gauge will go?

Re: Tranny Temp

What does your manual say?

I know that I hate seeing the temp get anywhere over 190. If it went any higher then 250 I'd pull over.

Re: Tranny Temp

i guees i should read the manual and see if it says anything. Yeah 250 would be a good time to pull over 221 was scary enough. I now know why guys are running tranny coolers on these things but zzperformance says not to waste your time with one. As the broken trannys they have seen were not from heat problems but just simple broken HARD parts, so really how strong are these trannys?

Re: Tranny Temp

Ya, there good.

I didnt believe in trans coolers until I moved to Texas.

ZZP/INTENSE are located in MI and OH. So they do NOT see the high temps that I see on a daily basis down here. One of their complaints about the coolers is busted hoses and bad connections. I run the MSP desert fox cooler that uses barbed fittings and aeroquip, I think thats what they are called, lines. I have had no leaks at all, not a single problem.

All of my trans failures where hard parts, non due to heat.

I've broke 2 differentials
1 input shaft
1 pump shaft
