Selling my car...how much should i ask?

Hey, im selling my 93 SI, and i was wondering what i should ask. The picture is here http://www.angelfire.com/wa/zebspage/mycivic.html

anyways, its Silver, like you can see, lowered 2 inches, 17" rims, projectors, 71,000 miles, perfect interior, never been smoked in, $1500 stereo, $700 alarm, comes with set of snow tires with rims, and a center audio console that i havent installed yet. I bought the car in august, and then went to college and realized i cant afford the insurance, and plus i need a car that i can take snowboarding and camping and stuff, and this car doesnt fit that...so yeah, ill post this in the for sale forum, but i posted it here first, to see what i might be able to expect to get for it. I paid alot more than in was worth, so ill probably end up taking a loss on it...but yeah...let me know. I live in Western WA, bellingham usually, but sometimes bremerton. Thanks.

Zeb

Damn, selling it already? You've had it for less than 6 months right? Well... not sure how much you should sell it for, but I'll let some friends know and see if they're interested.

If you want MY opinion... your stereo, your alarm, all the stuff you do to your car mean jack shit when you goto sell it. I say you just take it out, sell the car... and then sell the other stuff seperate. You will get way more then you would if you just leave it all in. Its looks nice though, goto Edmunds and lookup the "Private Party" value for the True Market Value of your vehicle... I would use that as a starting point!

"mods" dont have [much] value when selling a car - this was discussed heavily back on purehonda..... when you are buying a car, you are buying a car... 93 hatchback, with 71k miles (si?) i'd say between 3500 and 4000.. i got my 92 CX in great condition (128k) for 2800 5 months ago.. southern car, never saw snow, etc.

[edit]

car is reallly nice tho..up my price about 500 bucks..alarm more so than anything else really...

[/edit]

And then both of you guys w/ you sewing maching powered cars get passed by a moped w/ a 5hp Engine and he goes on to put 5 car lengths on you. Racing an EX vs a DX is like a 10 speed bike vs a golden retriever.

it's a 93 civic hatch... if you're thinking it's worth more than $5000, you're nuts.

most people can get a newer hatch for under $10k, so get real.

like the others said, mods dont count for crap... people who buy a used car either need a second car/beater and dont care, or they're young and wanna trick it out on their own.

plus, they probably wont like the stuff you put in it, and would have to replace it anyways... which robs them since they have to buy your stuff with a bloated asking price first, then dump more money into it later.

reality bites.

a few examples of why your car aint worth more than $5000...

just a few examples of 6th gen (1996 and newer) hatches that are worth only a few thousand more than yours, but priced respectably at their true market value. these are also in the Seattle, Tacoma area.

$5000 for your car, tops. $2500 if you trade it in. subtract $200 per dent and scratch, $500 for big ones.

those are all good examples of newer cars that go for 7-10,000, but this is my point, when i bought the car, i wanted a 5th gen SI, i didnt want an EX, i didnt want a 97 or 98 DX hatch, i didnt want an EX sedan, i wanted a 5th gen SI, so yeah , go back and do a search on 5th gen SIs in washington state, and find out how much they are going for....it will be more than $5,000. When i was looking for my car, i wouldnt consider anything, i could find a 98 EX Coupe with bodykit, rims, lowered, nice ass stereo, good paint job, all for a good price, but i wouldnt even consider it, because it wasnt the car that i wanted. Also they are relativly rare....

Also when i was looking for one, i found a few for 7-8,000 and called to ask about a lower price, they told me they had sold already for the asking price, like within a week....so its all about market value my friend.

it's not worth as much as you think. very few will pay that much for a 93 si hatch. just because you did doesnt speak for everyone. i merely gave you fair market value for your car.

but there's a sucker born every minute.

Hey, man... I might have found a buyer for your car. He is a friend of my little brothers and he lives here in Tacoma by me. I showed him pictures of your car and he is hella interested. Basically... he is offering $5,000 cash for it and he wants to negotiate with you. He will be receiving some money soon and he may actually get more than $5,000 but he will discuss that with you. Please contact him at [email protected]

He told me that he doesn't necessarily need the sound system, so if that would help you out financially, please feel free to keep it. Thanks, man.
