Wink The Corrado project

Some of you will know the old Revell-"VW Corrado G60"-kit!?
But unfortunately this kit is out of production for a very long time now and the prices at ebay are just..

In fact i have one of these kits, but as you can see in my sig, i´m a great Corrado fan and would like to build more than one.
So the only way is to copy every part

This will take some time, but i hope you enjoy following the very slow progress

Here are my first steps:

I started with the engine, but the valve cover was not good enough for my taste.
1.original part - 2.copy - 3.improved part - 4.copy of improved (left to right)
silicone form above

engine, gearbox and oil sump

A first try how the resin parts would look like.

Of course i would like to build this car with all different engines.
That means: 2litre 8V, 2litre 16V, 1,8litre G60 and the one i have in 1:1, the 2,9litre VR6.
I started building with the VR6 engine:

Engine-block

Oil sump and air-intake are improved parts from Fujimi´s Golf VR6.

I hope you like it so far!?

Re: The Corrado project

Dude when you get a mold for all of the parts tell me how much you think it would be to get a set from you if you are intristed in making and selling another. I love VW's and am a member of vdubaddiciton.com and would think many people from there would like one too.

Re: Re: The Corrado project

Interesting thread, I'll check it very carefully.
Like everybody else, if you sell your engines I'll be very interested too. Keep us informed.

Btw, good job so far, keep up the good work

Thank you all for your nice replies!! I´m glad you like it.

I really don´t know if i´m able to sell kits yet. There are much more complicated and bigger parts to come and this is the first time i work with silicone and resin ever.
Single engine kits like the VR6 maybe, but a complete Corrado kit, i don´t know, we will see.

Next time i´ll post some pictures of the modified axles and wheels.

VERY Nice!

What Silicone did you use to make the mold? I used Alumilite to make the mold for my engine, and the pound I got in the kit was barely enough to make teh entire engine.
