96 blazer running like crap.

check engine light has been on since i bought the suv. and it started acting up recently. while going down the road or just sitting in the yard it will start to run rough, like it is wanting to flood out on me but it dosent ever shut off. i scanned the comp and it said egr, so i changed it but still the problem is there, any suggestions would be apprec. thanks, anthony

Could be so many things. Vacuum leaks, clogged cats, fuel filter, bad fuel pump, bad fuel regulator, etc., etc. Have you done the basics - plugs, cap, rotor and wires? Always use GM cap/rotor as I've had some weird problems with these.

Do you have a continuous monitor capability for your scanner? With mine, you can drive and see what various sensors/systems are recording. Of course, someone else should be driving while you're scanning.

With the electronic age, weak sensors can give weird symptons. The IAC (idle air control) valve gets carboned up and cleaning/replacing it may help proper idling. There is also an EGR solenoid that is part of the EGR system - did you replace that?

So many probables here - a better description of your symptions could help.
