Re: Chip (SPEED CHIPS)

My .02, stay away from chips...ESPECIALLY on ebay. At least the first one is honest and admits his is a resistor. Basically those chips that claim huge hp gains are resistors that just lie to the ECU about the ambient air temp coming through the intake, so the ECU dumps more fuel into the engine. You are just going to be running richer, which is a waste of gas. It seems faster because essentially you are getting more gas to the engine with the same amount of pressure on the pedals, but in reality you gain nothing except more trips to the gas station. Don't waste your money. If you are really serious about tuning your car, there are tuning piggybacks available, but search for a quality one and stay away from ebay resistor "chips". Happy modding.

Re: Chip (SPEED CHIPS)

I wouldn't even deal with piggybacking or tuning unless you are running boost. Stick to normal BPUs, intake, headers, exhaust, then get a turbo. You really don't need to tune anything on a stock setup. Once you get a turbo and start playing with the boost you should start doing fuel system upgrades...then start tuning your Air/Fuel ratios.

Re: Chip (SPEED CHIPS)

There is no company that makes any performance chips for the 3G. Anything you see is a scam. People over on www.neweclipse.org have been trying crack our ECU for 4 years now with no luck. Dont get suckered in.
