Question rough idle,throtle lag?

1995 non turbo Eclipse.Starts fine. When it warms up it idles rough, like it wants to stall but it doesn't stall. When I step on the gas hard it lags,or bogs down.I have to baby it to get rpms up. Sometimes it backfires a little through intake when I step on it.Runs fine once you get it up to speed. It has new plugs, egr and air filter. I just got the car. Please help if you can? I try to fix things myself if I can.

Re: rough idle,throtle lag?

I assume you don't have any engine light and codes. First just try these things to begin with. May be starving for fuel: check fuel filter and fuel pressure at the fuel manifold. May be dirty: Pull off the rubber air tube from the air filter and look inside the throttle valve assembly for dirt deposits. If you haven't done so recently, pull off the throttle body assembly and clean it with a tooth brush using the proper solvent cleaner from a parts store.
Blow passages out with air. You might have some deposits in you injectors but I doubt it. You might try some injector cleaner in the gas tank. Let us know what you find.
