B16A1 Tuning

Hi guys,

I currently own an Civic EE9 with the B16A1 engine fitted.

Lately I bought an B16A2 VTI head with only 75.000 km. THis head I want to use to get port & polished and hop up with CTR cams etc. Also this way the "V-Tec rattle" of the early B16A1 engines is removed.

But I got some questions about it, since it's used as a daily driver.

- The engine got 171.000 km now on it is it safe to switch the head at this time at all?

- Stock it revs to 8.100 rpm, I want to increase this to about 8.500 rpm, how can I get this to work safe with CTR cams? I was thinking about fitting inner springs on the exhaust side, but will this do the job, since the intake side is left untouched. I also heard Type R springs are softer then B16A springs, is this true?

- I was thinking about machining the intake valves to Type R specs, is this worth the trouble, and does anybody have the exact Type R specs for the intake valves?

- The stock compression is only 10,2:1 so this is a little low. Since the lowest octane gasoline available overhere is 95 and I mostly drive on 98 octane gasoline, I want to increase the compression. But I want to keep block and pistons etc untouched. So the only way to increase the compression is to use the Mugen head gasket (increase of 0,4 points) and also skim a little of the head itself, like 0,3 mm. Is this smart to do or not? this way I should be pretty close to 10,8:1

Maybe you guys got some other suggestions etc, I would like to hear.

Other bolt ons will be:
- 2,5 " exhaust
- AN-R header
- ITR intake

tnx a lot
