keyless - electronic computer system issue!

Hi,

I have 2 good remotes for my 2002 Impala but my dealer could still not program keyless entry for my car. He said something about the car's "computer would not accept the program instructions..".
Is this normally classified as a very serious or trivial problem?
Is this fixable with only a couple hundred dollars cash?
Before getting them to diagnose I'd like to have an idea of what sort of costs to expect.

thanks!
Mark

Could be the reciever or body control module. Prolly gonna have to pay dealer to do the diagnostics to find out how much it will cost to repair.

Re: keyless - electronic computer system issue!

I had the dealer tell me the same thing today.

I installed the keyless entry module in my 2002 Grand Caravan then I took the vehicle to the dealer to have them program the key fobs.
Four technicans worked on it for a half hour and couldnt get it to work. They said the body control module would not accept the programming.
At that point I took the vehicle back home to ensure I installed the wiring harness correctly. I triple checked the wiring and its exactly as the instruction sheet specified.

Not sure what to do now... I hate being at the dealers mercy since they have the computer.

I bought this van used and cant for the life of me figure out why anyone would buy a new car without keyless entry installed from the factory. Using the key is such a PITA.

dealer ordered key fobs assuming that the ones i had were not the right ones for my vehicle. still nothing.
what they found though thru interfacing with the body control module was that the "RFA" option (keyless) had no asterisk next to it; maybe it was never on my car (i'd gotten it used and dont know its history that well). They said they'd see if it is possible to download this feature into my car - but are doubtful.
On a seperate concern, i got my car with 100,000 km's (instead of miles), and am wondering if this is considered too high. Has anyone ever seen impala's go beyond 250,000 km before?
