Evening Guys,
I am about ready to trade in my old Magna now, and for some time i have been interested in purchasing a nice Honda Civic. I'm not to sure about which one exactly i am after. But i do enjoy driving an auto. I have been looking at a '98 Civic VTi Coupe. I am just interested into what kind of engine this car has, whether it be the D16A or the B16A or something different all together. Also what kind of aftermarket support might i expect. To help, I live in Victoria, Australia. Thanks guys and girls for your help.

So it does have a B16A?
Is a single or double overhead cam? I really don't know much much about civics, so i'm just enquiring. Before i buy a car i just like to know all the specifics i can find. Just to make sure i know what i am getting. I did say that i enjoy driving auto's, but thats only cos manuals get tedious when stuck in traffic. This car has to be my daily driver so i am looking to see whether a manual or auto would be more suitable. I do find myself bored driving my magna which is an auto, wishing i did have a manual... but then i get stuck in traffic and thank god i am driving an auto.

Re: Trading in for Civic
I've never minded manuals in traffic.
![]() B16a is only DOHC mate. Mind you, I suppose that means HALF of it is a SOHC. Damn Im a moron, lol.

Awesome! I was kinda worried... but just to satisfy my curiousity, i have a pic of the engine. If this is the B16A, i will hopefully have the car within a fortnight!

Re: Trading in for Civic
The VTi coupe is D16A, the VTi-R coupe is B16A and available only in manual. Honda had the wisdom never to mate it to a slushbox. Happy driving!
