Removing Auto Climate Controls

Hi! I need help removing these climate controls because I'm helping a friend install some car audio and need more room to work with. I've asked some dealers in the area and they all tell me the face can be pryed out with a flat head - I'm not too sure about that. Can anyone give me suggestions? Thanks!
