Custom Interior's
Does anyone have custom interior done to their car? Like blue or red door panals, dash, shifter skirt, seatbelts or anything like that? And if so, where did you get it done and how much did it cost.

Re: Custom Interior's
yes... I'm not positive how to post pics but I'm gonna try and throw them into my gallery here in a few minutes (any tips would be greatly appreciated!) it's a complete fiberglass interior. and I do mean complete. it is the whole dash, door panels, trunk and rear pieces, a pillars and headliner. hell even the damn visors are glassed! it's in orange and black. plus the entire trunk is removeable (kind of like a jigsaw puzzle) so that the nitro tank for the air ride can be taken out. I'll post up some pics here in a few. It's a 20,000 dollar glass job. or close to it. It'll cost you about 8-10 to get it done depending on where you go. Where do you live? maybe I could help ya out. also in a previous post there was a site listed on a place to go for info. You might want to check that out...
Ok.. I'm feeling generous. here it is: http://web.njit.edu/%7Ecas1383/proj/main/ Enjoy

Re: Custom Interior's
well on second thought, I don't feel like squishing down all the pics and going through the headache of uploading them. Maybe some time when I get really bored. If you would like examples though feel free to email me and I'll send them to you. My email addy is [email protected]
EDIT>> The car was done at a local shop a friend of mine owns. The car will be in an upcomming issue of high beams. I know it's not the greatest, but everyone at the shop is happy!

Re: Custom Interior's
Nothing to that extent, though. Anyone take off their speaker sheilds and paint em any color? Or do the same with their dash or radio interface?

Re: Custom Interior's
I think he's talking about removing the panels on the center console. It's kind of annoying but can be done if you know where all the screws are. Just take it out and sand it down then put a good paint on it. I've seen it done horrredly and nicely. it all depends on how much time you put into it. As far as the vents and speaker grills and stuff it's all rather simple. just invovles taking things apart spraying and putting back together. occasionally it looks good, sometimes it looks like shit. It's all personal preference. Have fun

Re: Custom Interior's
Me and my friends have nearly completely took out all of my interior and repainted 1/4 of it. I have some pics of it done and in progress, just click my sig to see them.

heres the basics.
1. remove every thing to be painted, be patient or the plastic clips will break. 2. scuff up plastic by either scotchbrite pad or wet sand with 1200 grit usually costs 2.00 3. don't be stupid and try to paint vinyl. 4. if you want to smooth out rough grain pieces use a plastic based glaze putty (evercoat) don't go crazy but just fill in the depressions and leave alittle excess, smooth out when dry by wet sanding with 1200 grit.usually costs 15.00 for a small can of evercoat. 5. if your going to lay down new carpet nows a good time. also take out what ever pieces you want upholstered (best to see a shop for this). 6. tape every thing that you don't want painted, do a good job 7. prep with a plastics friendly wax and grease remover in a dust / dirt free area. 8. go to auto zone and pick up some duplicolor adhesion premoter, this works great on plastics because it lays down a clear primer that is plastic friendly. do not spray but mist on the first 2 coats other wise it will not stick well. but be sure to keep the coats even. 9. let the adhesion premoter dry.then spray on a regular primer, 2coats is plenty (some don't even do this, but better safe than sorry) 10. I prefer to spray base and clear coats through a paint gun (less flow lines, wider color selection, better coverage) but you can break out the rattle can if you have to. 1mist coat, 2 base coats, 1 pearl or candy (optional) 2 clear coats. let each coat get tacky (not dry) before next coat. 11. let dry install opposite of removal. just take your time and don't half ass ANYTHING you do on your car. and you will be happy. also if your not real familiar with fiber glass I would seriously let someone else do it or practice like crazy first (very messy, and hard to fix screwups. good luck
