Question 1996 Maxima RIMS and TIRES size question...

Hey guys...it's Andrew here and I am new to the forum, but I am really lovin it. Just a short question I hope you guys can help me with...

I just got a set of 18" Rims (ADR Rydox) off of eBay. Now they have been sitting in my room for about 4 months now because I still have not bought tires for them. I have been looking around recentlly and have decided to go with the HANKOOK HRII VENTUS tires... (I'm pretty sure that's what they're called)...I like the fact that they have like a 300 rating in tread wear and an A rating in traction...

Anyways, I heard that pot holes can really mess up your rims, and plus, I like fast food, so I am always pulling through the drive through at McDonalds...and sometimes, I'll rub against the curb...right now that doesnt really matter, because it's just rubbing the tires, but when I go get those low-profile tires, then I'm going to be rubbing on the rims...

Any ways, my question is this... I know how to read the sizes on tires and I was trying to get the biggest sidewall that I can, thus decreasing my chances of rubbing my rims on curbs and messing them up in pot holes....

Does anybody know the BIGGEST tire size I can put on my 18" rims on my 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE? I have the stock suspension. I was hoping I could get the 245/40/18 tires...
Here is a link to the tires I hope I can get for my 18" rims:

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Andrew

I would stick with either the 245/40-18 or 235/40-18. Any profile size bigger than 40 will change the overall tire size and then alter your speedometer and odometer

OK, well I went by Pep Boys this weekend, and they had those same tires that I gave a link to. For about $660, they will mount the tires on my rims, preform a computerized balanced, and sell me chrome stems...

Sound like a deal?

Also, my real question is: WILL 245/40/18 tires fit in the wheel well of my car? Will there be any problems when I crank my steering wheel all the way in one direction? If I hit a bump, will my tire rub the top of the wheel well, and most importantly, will that tire fit horizontally in my wheel well?

Any one with experience with that size tire on the same kind of car as me (96 Maxima), please let me know....

Thanks.

Still nothing?? Nobody out there has any after-market rims of these size or close to it on your Maxima?
