Slamming Civic

was going to go with H&R sports with koni reds to lower my car. is this a good combination or is it worth it to pay more for the yellows?

also will my tires rub with this drop on 91 civic wit 17's 205/40 tires?
Car needs lowering bad

Re: Slamming Civic

slamming=scrubbing=busted oil pans, cracked headers, etc. I know about cracked header from experience cuz I bought my car slammed but springs sucked and my chikara header had a crack in it (top and bottom of collector) causing the burnt oil to fume into the car making me sick... why risk it... get coil overs

no offense but i have NEVER had those troubles. i have been daily driving a slammed civic for at least 6 yrs. not only have i not busted a header or cracked an oil pan but i also have managed to not ding up the underside of my exhaust too much either. ask GTA. he felt the underside after he didn't believe me saying i don't hit it on anything.

it's all in how you drive the car. you always have to look ahead for unexpected bumps, slow down for driveways, and hit speedbumps at the right angle.

if anything...i would warn a person about the wear and tear lowering a civic can cause. if you don't adjust your camber the tires will be worn quickly. expect to replace your bushings in the future. balljoints tend to wear quicker as well. shoot, i would say the whole front end suspension. when lowering your car always keep in mind the car is 13-16 years old. whatever has not been replaced, be prepared to replace!

im with you on that ami. i've done my share of driving slammed about 3 inches or so, never had oilpan or header issues. the only time i would scrape would be on some speed bumps and the part that would scrape is my resonatoer on my exhaust. you just gotta learn how to take driveways and keep an eye out on the road.

You are all lucky to live on the west coast. Here in PA the roads are shit and I scrape on friends driveways sometimes with my car at stock height. If I ever lower a car more than 1.5" it will probably fall apart in no time.
