2001 Astro problems

Hello to all- My van died 3 weeks ago-obd II code 300-multiple cylinder misfire. I replaced distributor cap and rotor(arcing-coming apart). It ran fine for 2 weeks-now it is loping,(lurching) erractically in high rpm's right at a shift point. Also, now it has not set any trouble codes. Has anyone had this experience? Thanks for any help!

Re: 2001 Astro problems

At just over 50,000 Kilometers , I had to replace a very clogged fuel filter that was causing some similar symptoms . At that time they also replaced the cap and rotor under warranty .

Re: 2001 Astro problems

Thanks Squareliner for the reply-I did change the fuel filter when I replaced cap and rotor. I just checked/cleaned egr and pcv systems-no help. There must be something I'm overlooking?!!!

Thumbs up

Hi Nitrorc-thanks for your reply. This problem did in fact end up being the cat. There was a round bulb like a resonator on the right side of the exhaust just before the converter. It self destructed and soon after ruined the cat. It's been fixed for a month now-last weekend I took a 250 mile trip-it ran like a champ--All's well with the disastro as for now!!Thanks .

Re: 2001 Astro problems

I have to replace my catalytic converter for the same reason. It seems difficult to get a fairly priced 2001. I am over 80 000 miles so the guarantee expired. Any ideas?
