Question 98 k1500 silverado rear view mirror replacement

I am new to this forum but, I read the answers you guys have given and you are all very knowledgeable. I am trying ot replace my rear view mirror on my Silverado and I am having a hard time removing the old mirror. Do I need to remove the entire mirror casing and disconnect the wires. The mirror is connected to a defrost vent so I don't want to rip the tubing. Am I supposed to pull the mirror until it releases from the mirror casing? The main thing is I don't want to damage the mirror casing in the process of trying to replace the actual mirror. Any and all help is appreciated.
