Hello my fellow drivers.
I just read on a consumer web site, that Olds is recalling 1995 to 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora's for a possible leak in the fuel system rail. Has anyone else seen this, and has anyone gotten a letter from Olds telling them to bring the car in for repairs. This sounds urgent, that is all you need that your driving along in your Oldsmobile and really become a red Rocket. ![]() ![]()

If you had done the search you would see that it's the 1995 to 1997 model that is being recalled.

not all cars will be recalled
I phoned olds, they said not all 97 would be recalled even if they have the plastic fuel rails.
Some were manufactured at different factory. Has anyone heard any different. |

Re: Olds Recalling the Aurora
All Auroras were made at the Lake Orion, Michigan plant. It's _possible_ that the fuel rail design changed partway through the '97 model year- the part is different on the 98's and 99's - but that's just speculation on my part, and not confirmed...

Fuel leak forces Oldsmobile Aurora recall
by Associated Press posted Mar 12, 2004 WASHINGTON -- General Motors Corp. is recalling 93,572 Oldsmobile Aurora sedans because fuel can leak into the engine and start a fire, the federal government said Friday. The recall affects Auroras from the 1995-1997 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has received 123 complaints about the problem. In one case, a fire started while the vehicle was parked in a garage attached to a home. The vehicle was destroyed and the home was damaged, NHTSA said. The agency said the fuel is leaking because the nylon tubing used in the fuel rail can degrade and crack. Owners will be notified later this spring of GM's plans to repair the vehicles.

My understanding about this is that customers will be notified beginning sometime in May. I asked the local dealership about this and they told me customers usually know about this before they do so don't get excited about anything happening until next month or later. I guess there's a stainless steel replacement rail on the way to cure this.
