Is it worth it?

I have a 99 eclipse GS with 125,000 miles on it. I have had no problems with it so far, but i was wonder if it is worth buying the aftermarket parts i want, like headers, cold air intake, high flow cat, short shifter, strut bars, taillights, and body kit, or should i save my money and wait for my car to break. Please some one help me make a decision. I wasnt my car to be bad ass, but is it worth spending the money with all the miles.

just my opinion but my gs runs quite a bit to fix when it does go down. i mean its your car we can't tell you what to do with it. i don't think any of the engine mods would hurt your car an any way . i wouldn't buy the body kit at all but then again thats just personal preferance

i just replace what breaks with after market (i.e. high performance)like when the timing belt needed changing at 60000 I had cam gears put in along with a greddy timing belt by my mitsubishi dealer for $400 plus parts. when the clutch started slipping at 100000 I replaced it with a centerforce clutch and ended up actually saving money overall cause I did it my self. I lucked out recently when my top radiator tank finally got a hair line crack, couldn't find a tank for the radiator so I just bought a fluidyne for 320. yeah I know it costs more than oem in most cases but I am slowly gaining hp. (lemons to lemonade man) and don't worry man as long as you maintain it your engine should make it to 190000 depending on how you drive. hell my stock gs (my first dsm of 3) has 183500 miles right now and no problems in site (my girlfriend drives like a granny) but after 190000 replace the damn thing and just let it die cause the resale is probably $2.00 after that

Re: Is it worth it?

this is a link to a thread that shows how many miles a lot of the peeps in here got on their cars. and most of these people have LOTS of mods, so don't feel bad about modding your car. if i were to recomend anything it would be to sell it and get a turbo trim.

Re: Is it worth it?

That's great and all, except there are very few aftermarket replacements compared to all the shit you can break in a high milage car. I'm not saying 125k is unbelievably high, but it's that much closer to death than I'd feel good spending money on. Your choice.
