RB26 in R32 GTS4

Hello bitches,

Considering an engine swap in the next year or so for my GTS4.

How hard would it be to put a GTR engine in it. I don't imagine it would be too hard at all considering it has GTR drivetrain as standard.

Will the standard Attessa link with a GTR computer?

Is there anything else that needs to be done?

Has anyone attemtpted this swap, what was the outcome?

Please give me a rough estimate of the cost of this transplant.

Thanks guys,
Ben

It will slot right in. You will need to upgrade the fuel pump, ecu, and if you are planning on pushing some poke through it the gearbox. The GTS4 gearbox is weaker than the GTR one.

Don't forget the rest of the GTR bits you will need such as front mounted intercooler. Advanced Imports dropped a 3 liter into a GTS4 and it was an awesome machine to say the least. Since the GTS4 and GTR share the same drive train it should be fairly straight forward.

The motor alone seems to be going for around $6,000 AUD plus the rest. I would venture to say if you do most of the mechanicals yourself you would save a fair bit, but tuning should be done by a pro.

I would estimate @ $9,000 AUD and up.

Yeah, I would probably only need help with the loom.

Are the 33 & 34 RB26 engines compatible with the 32 drivetrain or would I have to use a 32 RB26 engine?

rb26dett in r32 gts-t

I was considdering the same thing! (err only with my gts-t)
Got a price of just above 10k for putting a rb26dett and the box out of a gts2.5t (with a different gear kit)... as im already upgrading the fuel pump... front mount... and computer those bits wont need to be done again... but the guy said its a pretty straight forward swap and thats on a gtst so i imagine the swap from gts-4 to gtr motor would be even easier
good luck man!! if you do it let us know the outcome!

If the GTR Motor is that expensive wouldn't it be worth getting a Series 2 VL 3 Litre short motor rebuilding it slapping on the RB25DE head from the R32DE..

Then going the Single turbo..
Probably the same power if not a little more. Slap the cover on that says rb20

And the piggies wouldn't hassle you..

With a RB20DET from an R32 a GT2530, exhaust, inlet and computer remap your looking at around the 220rwkw mark, a 3ltr would make a lot more power, especially torque when off boost..

soon baby, soon.

Go the 3L, found the block for $100. One thing I am gutted about is I was offered a R32 GTS25 engine and gearbox for $500 a while ago, and I said, nah don't want it.. duh

I can't afford a whole GTR, the least I can do is have the engine of a GTR. Thats my way of thinking anyway.

RB30 may be an alternative way to go, put on the 25 or 26 heads should put out a fair wack of power.

The only problem with this route is there is alot more involed with installing this engine than there is installing the 26, ie computer, gear box, cross members, mounts and room . Probably end up cheaper going the 26 by the time you add everything up.

You can get the Rb25 head running on the std. GTS-T computer..

If you do the mechanicals your self it shouldn't be to $$$..

A 3ltr in a skylie with its short gearing will really make it move off boost then when boost comes on... <grins>

I can feel the torque wave now

My fiancee is saying

"What you should do Joel is rebuild the 3ltr slowly and then one day put it in.."

I'm not going to argue with her..
