turn signals/hazard not working-help!

1st time for me!! yup im a newbe!--anyhow..ive got a 94 grand prix se and the alternator started going south, so i replaced that made the idiot light for the battery symbol go away... but i now am having an issue with the turn signals/flashers not working..my mechanic neighbor helped on the alternator told me it might be a problem inside the steering column after we checked ALL of the fuses of which none were bad...so i put this to all you pontiac whizkids..is there any other fuses in my car up under the dash? or am i going to have to gutt the steering column to get at the turn signal switch box..thanx for any help you send and i gotta say this site is awesome very informative! you guys rock!

Re: turn signals/hazard not working-help!

Well, in the manual for my 98 it says to check for a bad ground and if thats not it then replace switch.

That probably doesnt help to much for your 94.

Re: turn signals/hazard not working-help!

if i buy the part new it costs anywhere between 70-100$..so i went to the junkyard and got a switch assembly...looking at the inside of this unit makes me wonder if i can just spray some kind of degreasing fluid inside will it help? still you would think that flipping the switch up and down fast that i would get some kind of juice flowing but it is still dead as a rock..i will go looking for a short or something before i rip apart the steering wheel..i did try wiggling wires and still no luck but thanx for the input anyone else ever experience this???
