AC Compressor

I tried to test my ac charge in my 96 jimmy 4.3l and the compressor never turned itself on after running the ac full blast. The car had been running for around 20 minutes. I pulled the sensor at the top of the compressor and tried to jump it out, still no luck. Is there anything else I could do, or do I need a new compressor?

Ac problem

what exactly was it that you jumped? from the sound of what you said, sounds like you unplugged the power and ground for the A/C clutch coil circuit. Try jumping the a/c pressure cycling switch, usually found on the accumulator. you could also try jumping the a/c high pressure cut out switch. if you jump both of those and the clutch still doesnt engage, check to see if you have a good ground circuit for the clutch.

Re: AC Compressor

if there isn't enough freon in it the comp. won't kick on.....if you cross it over for too long you will burn it up..
