What type of modifications were you planning on for fuel/ignition timing issues?

I was thinking leaving the ignition the same (stock), b/c I heard OE ignitions were really good. I was also thinking maybe some eclipse 450cc injectors. THx

But how will you tune the fuel delivery, just getting big injectors and nothing else will cause more problems than it will solve. Maybe you should read this basic article on FI Engine Manangement.

I don't really know. What do you think the best/cheapest setup would be for me. I would have a Zc. Oh and what is a Vortec FMU???

450's are overkill...If anything, get some 310's at the most.
If money is an issue, get the 4th gen prelude vtec injectors, an S-AFC, and a walboro intank pump |

oh, ok. what is an S-AFC??? Is it the same as a vtec controller but controls A/F ratios??? Oh, do you know what a Vortec FMU is and how much it would cost???

The S-AFC (correct me if I'm wrong, Texan
) allows you to controll both the VTEC point and boost pressure.

well
Well i wish i was runnin over 7 psi
If u boost to like 10 psi on stock bottom end u will need Fuel Computer or ECU(Hondata)Missing Link Block Guard 2 mm head gasket Fuel Pump(8 psi u need pump already) Rising rate fuel Regulator -From what i hear that also turned me away from runnin high boost is that u will need to tune ur fuel ignition, etc. whenever u go from low boost to high boost. No presets- U cant just run 10 psi tuned and switch to 7 psi and push a button and be tuned(U need to retune ur car all the time)Price u pay for runnin high boost Some other things also that may have slipped my mine. There was actually a discussion bout this on the Ez board Zc forum

The FMU's primary purpose is to RESTRICT fuel flow back to the gas tank. It's ran off of a vaccum line from the intake. With more boost, it restricts more fuel flow, forcing the injectors to use the fuel. But, stock injectors can only use so much fuel, but that's a different topic indeed. Hope that answered your question. http://home.satx.rr.com/importvelocity/

The Apex'i S-AFC is a piggy-back fuel management system. Basically it sits between the ECU and engine and allows you to tune, to a certain degree, the fuel curve (actually I think you tune the air intake that the ECU sees, to which it responds with different levels of fuel). The V-AFC is pretty much the S-AFC, with vtec control. Neither of these AFCs have boost control. The Apex'i boost controller is the AVC-R. While these are nice (and pretty looking) tools for minor engine tuning, they don't give nearly the control and safety that a full fledged programmable ECU will. Look at company's like Hondata, ZDyne, or for some really cool stuff, AEM. |
