Re: traction control ????
what is the condition of your tires and are they properly inflated 30psi to 35 at the very most,a good way to check tread depth is to take a penny and stick it into the tread abes head first, if you can see his hair the tire is worn beyond its effectiveness

Re: Re: Re: traction control ????
Bad wheel speed sensor? Carefully unplug from the backside of the hub and clean with an aerosol solvent and add some dielectric(silicon)grease to the connector and re-attach. If it still doesn't work, you will need a brake system(ABS/TC)diagnosis and decide what it's worth to you to have these systems operational. It probably will be expensive to fix but remember, it could be a life and death decision.

Re: traction control ????
Couldnt you turn the TC off until you have a chance to get it fixed? At least then it wont bog you down.
I'm not sure where the VSS is on Auroras, so I will sit back and see if someone esle knows

The wheel speed sensors are integrated into the wheel hubs. They didn't sound too hard to replace, but again- you have to decide if it's worth it to you. You'd have to search previous posts for prices. I can't remember.

Re: traction control ????
Well I bought my car last summer. In the fall I started getting intermittent anti-lock and trac lights til eventually they stayed on.
The other day I hit a pretty good pothole. I was like ouch!!! Ironicly I noticed there after that the warning lights don't come on anymore lol and the trac on/off button is working again. Definitely sounds like a wheel speed sensor connection issue that I'll look into once it warms up. I would suggest, like Indy said, everyone check and clean the connections to the wheel speed sensors. Probably solve 95% of the Anti-lock Trac issues |

Re: traction control ????
You know, I decided to dish out a ton of money when I bought my car and fix my traction control. Mine ended up being the pressure control valve which was $700 or so. And I have not ran into one situation since I got it working (about 2 years now) that I have ever needed it. The only time it ever comes on is if I am on a patch of ice and the only thing it does is alert me that it is slippery and doesn't allow me to do anything crazy like stop too fast. But anyone with common sense knows not to slam on the brakes. When I hit ice, I can feel my car start to slide off the road then I hear the traction control come on and it feels like it pulls me back a little. But it isn't anything I couldn't gotten out of without it. If it goes bad again, if it is a $10 fix, then I'll fix it. But if it is another $700, then I am going to remove the dash and remove the traction off and active lights!!!

Re: traction control ????
I have an 95 olds aurora with 160,000 miles and the traction light has been coming on for sometime now and when the light comes on I can be on dry surface or even when I hit a little bump. My question is why when the light comes on the car like loses power and when you push the gas pedal to the floor the car does nothing, it has no "get up and go". Please respond if you have an answer. Thanks
