Insurance question.. anyone know?

I want to be covered for hit-and-run's when my car is parked, or if anyone keys the car etc.. any personal damage when the car is parked...

Is there any kind of coverage for that? or would i have to get full coverage..

I dont want full coverage, just liability, and the above...

anyone?

Full coverage includes: liability, collision, comprehensive-which covers vandalism, theft, glass etc. Some states have un/under-insured motorist coverage available as well. It may be best to look at the full package. I would think hit and run would be covered by collision and comprehensive. The one thing you should do is talk to your agent or carrier and review the policy as written.

it should be covered under the comprehensive package. in massachussetts they had a thing called fire & theft, which was like comprehensive but named differently

Vandalism and Theft are covered under "comprehensive" - that should take care of keying, door dings, stolen radio, busted window, etc.

If your car actually gets hit by another when it's parked (hit-and-run), it may only be covered under "collision" - check carefully with your insurer about this. I got stung by mine. A truck put a monster 3"x15" dent in my rear quarter panel while my car was parked on the street, and there was no note or any witnesses I could find. My damned insurace co (20th century) refused to pay a cent since I didn't have collision coverage - even though I had uninsured & comprehensive.

It really makes no logical sense, but that's how they screw you.

Good luck.
