Re: whats better hypertech or jetchip?

All depends on what you install it on.....the difference is the name/company. They both sale chips or programmers

In my '92, I have the Hypertech Street Runner. My truck was my daily driver for years so I didn't want to totally screw up my gas milage. While doing everyday driving, the Street Runner retains the stock program but when you hit wide open throttle, it changes the shift points and all the settings for more power and it really does kick the truck in the ass. Plus with this chip, you don't have to change your thermostat. I have no expierience with Jet Chip, but I'm very happy with the Hypertech.

Re: whats better hypertech or jetchip?

I'm interessted in the jet stage 1 chip myself. I think with the jet stage 2, you have to have other engine mods, and the stage 1 is for stockers. They claim to add from 17-22 rear wheel horsepower, but i dont know. I wnat somethign that will always be working, instead of just wide open throttle. Nothing against wot, but I don't do that regularly, lol.

Re: whats better hypertech or jetchip?

Keep in mind most of these chips simply change the spark advance curve and cooling fan turn on temp (if equipt with electric fans). Chips requirening a thermostat change simply allow the engine to run cooler and compensate for the temp at which the ECM goes into closed loop mode. There is really every little else they do since they cannot make changes that would impact the emissions certs for the vehicle. In most cases you would be better served to get a good intake and exhaust system on your truck vs. spending $$$ on chips. Just my 2cents...
