recently had a automatic to manual conversion swap

i have a 2000 civic dx hb and just had a 5spd conversion done with a vx transmission on it but i lags on 3rd gear. my first gear goes to 40, my 2nd gear goes to eighty, then 3rd-5th it just lags at 120 im in 3rd and 5.5rpm. would a new tranny do better or is it my engine?

I'd get a new tranny, my buddy just pick up a VX and the same thing happens with his stock engine/tranny combo; peppy in 1st and 2nd but lags in 3rd+ gears.

yea thats what i thought but everyone was telling me theres no different in a civic sohc tranny but thanks civicspoon

I can barely take mine to 60mph at 2nd. Is that a better transmission for freeway driving?

if yu had turbo yes but if not then no. its only good on 1st and 2nd gear after that with the vx tranny your car would just sound fast and you just barely move

So its just 1st and 2nd that are wide then?

Dont you have a hard time accelerating with such wide gears? Especially if you have to downshift to speed up a bit.
