86 has a few Problems
Just bought a 86 pickup that has a few problems.
First, when driving down the road I hear a clicking noise that is faster the higher my speed is, and is completely gone when I stop. As I slow down the noise gets slower. Any ideas? Second, I replaced my air pump a few days ago, and in order to do that I removed the alternator. Well since then, my battery doesn't charge all the time. Sometimes it will charge, other times it won't. When it doesn't charge, the voltage meter is at about 10 volts and goes up to about 13 volts when I hit the gas so I know the alternator is working. It also goes up to 13 volts when in park. Any ideas? Thanks, Nick

Re: 86 has a few Problems
Not sure about your charging problem but the clicking sound you are hearing is more than likely a bad u joint.

Re: 86 has a few Problems
charging problem sounds like a loose belt.

Re: 86 has a few Problems
this is late but check your tires for a nail or screw in the tread. it will click everytime your tire rotates.

Check your speedometer cable. That may be your clicking noise. As for the Altenator/Charging Problem follow the wires back to the Starter and look for a broken or loose connection.
