tell me about my brakes 93 gc laredo 73k miles
i have only had this car for a few months, it's my first jeep
last week the wheels started to sound like they were rubbing; light rub at start up, a little louder when braking and a little bit of grab at the end of a short stop. my prognosis, time for new pads and such is this going to be overly complicated, do i need any ridiculous jeep specific tools should i expect anything out of the ordinary? |

Re: tell me about my brakes 93 gc laredo
yup sounds like a brake job coming up, the rotors have tendacy to warp so just pull of the wheel and all is exposed. Had same problem with mine 95 GC. Replaced the front right rotor, $19.95 At Autozone , Also replaced caliper that was stuck, rebuilt the other side and new pads. Took about two hours and on a scale of 1 - 10, about a 2. get a Haynes or Chiton manuel and you can't go wrong

re: brakes
Get slotted rotors. More expensive but stops warping

Re: tell me about my brakes 93 gc laredo
not hard at all, just remember to loosen then the Bleeder plug b4 u use a C-clamp or cyclinder press tool, to press the cylinder back into the Caliper. this makes it easier to push the cylinder in the caliper and keeps from pushing that backpressure into the Master Cylinder. hense keeping it from ruining the Master Cylinder.

Re: tell me about my brakes 93 gc laredo
I have a 93 GC and bought slotted rotors and ceramic bads....what a difference. No more fading or warping and any noise is gone. Should have been built at the factory that way.
