headlight conversion on my 5th gen coupe

ok. below are some images of headlight conversions i'd like to do. now.. i havn't decided which one i like more yet but i need a little info about doing each since i'm not a body worker.

s15 headlight conversion: do i need widebody fenders or do you think i just need modified hood, bumper and fender cut? what is involved in a conversion anyway? what front bumper is that?? do they sell a kit for this? fenders, hood, headlights? or would it have to be custom cut to fit?

integra headlights: seems like it'd be just as hard to do. i'd need a integra hood? or custom civic hood? same question as above do they sell as a kit?

i'm just trying to see what my options are. i smashed up my front end a little. i kinda want a different style up front. we'll see though

on the bodywork subject...
shaving side moldings: cost???
rear vent: cost???

now for the pictures:

s15 conversion

s15 conversion

integra headlight conversion

rear vent

rear vent

thanks in advance and any knowledge is helpful... (sorry if images are too big)

prices
problems
body info
side effects
etc, etc...

WEll cost wil vary on all the work depending on the shop you choose and how well they are goin to do the job.

for the conversion you can spend like 1700 on a front end conversion for your ride to get everything you need in one shot.

check out:
www.importtrenz.com
www.extremedimensions.com

the vents look nice but are more for looks than enything.
i hope this little bit of info might help a little.
good luck in what you do and be sure to share pics of the outcome.....:frog:

You don't NEED to get widebody fenders but it'll look rather weird if you don't get atleast fender flares. The headlights cost about $1000 just by themselves. You need to modify the hood, fenders, bumper, and radiator support, just like most every other head light conversion. No they don't sell a kit for this, all custom. As for what's involves, roughly, you make general cuts to all the aformentioned parts then use either fiberglass and bondo OR the pros use sheetmetal, welded on and molded and shaped into the shape they need. The point is to make it look like the car CAME with these lights. If they don't flow with the stock lines, it won't look good.

They DO sell a kit for this one and it costs about $1500-$2000. I've seen it on www.groupbuycenter.com

Everything is dependant on the shop you take it to an how much of the work you want them to do. You should check out a thread I started here and in the Exterior forum. It details the procedure of "shaving" body parts.

Prices: Over $2000
Problems: Inexperienced body workers who can't make it line up with the stock bodylines. Too much bondo work. Wiring mishaps.
Body Info: With almost any headlight converion you need to cut into the fender, hood, bumper and radiator support. Cutting into the radiator support isn't like doing the rest. The rad support is vital to front end rigidity and it's welded onto the frame of the car.
Side Effects: None bad really. Usually any light upgrade to has better visibility than the stock lights which migh include an HID conversion. But keep this in mind: This makes it harder for any layman to identify what car it is which could be good or bad. If you ever get it stolen, the police will be baffeld by your description.

Damn, that stuff looks good. What about an S2000 conversion... here's a hatchback example.

The example attached is in a poor quality gif format because the original would not fit. It will give you a basic idea but if you'd like to see the larger, detailed, high resolution images, click this link: http://home.collegeclub.com/ghettole...2_95_Hatch.jpg

Well done, and well planned, headlight conversions rule. The Teg front on that EG is one of the nicest I have ever seen.

The key is to find a good body shop, AND to pick headlights that flow with the car. For S15 headlights, you need to do something to visually widen the car, and also pull out the front end a little bit (through the use of a nice extending front kit).

Look at this:

It looks weird. Kinda cool, but definitely weird. It's obvious it is a conversion. Now look at the pic that you posted of an S15 conversion. They have a wide body kit and some sort of Silvia kit for the front bumper. It looks good, and looks like those headlights could've been OEM on that car.
