Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

Both have VTEC engines.
The Integra has a 170hp version though and it's 128 torque. Weight is 2529 lbs.

The Prelude has 190hp and 158 torque in the 1993-96 models and weighs 2809 lbs. 1997/98 models have 195hp and 156 torque, 1999-01 models have 200hp and 156 torque. 1997+ models weigh 2954 lbs.

4 wheel disk brakes...I guess they're fairly similar in regard to braking ability though the Prelude has more weight.

What car do you think has the best performance? I know there's some experts out there that know this kinda stuff! Do you think the lower weight of the Integra makes up for the lower torque and hp?

I guess I'm really asking this because I'm trying to choose what to buy and it's between these cars. I know the 1997+ Prelude models have that active torque transfer to the wheels for better handling and that's a consideration too.. I'm looking for a fun car that I probably won't mod, and if I do it won't be past intake/header/exhaust levels, that can win the occasional stop light race.

I was reading around and think I should make a correction to the GSR weight....2667lbs for the 1994-01 models as far as I know.

From what I hear the GSR takes shorter races like street races but longer ones and freeway/highway the Prelude will take?

ok, this might sound really wierd but, i raced this one black prelude here in my town had VTEC and CAI on it. as far as i could tell. the only reason that i think he had a CAI is b/c he had an AEM sticker on the side of his car. but anyways, we ended up racing three times in a row down this one long ass street here and i kicked his ass everytime. and he kept asking for more???? and yes he was really racing b/c he missed his turn to keep going. noticed that later. as far aas all the preludes go, there is not one that i have found to beat me yet. i'm not impressed with preludes so far. so stick with the integra

I agree, well I haven't race with any ludes, but on tegs, my 96 kicked 95 gsr 5 times in a row like 5 sec behind, 95 has aftermarket AI, other than that both r stocks. So if you want to buy GSR go with 96-up. spec is the same but 96+ faster than 94-95, that's a fact.

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

If I'm U I take the Prelude VTEC...5th Gen

I never been on GSR or 5th gen VTEC but I been on a 4th Gen prelude VTEC and well it has mean o take off cause of all that torque over a GSR and u could always weight reduct A Prelude and well the same could be said about the GSR...but u'll win more style points on a Prelude and trust me VTEC Prelude's r fast and have very very very good handling....TAKE THE 5TH GEN IF U COULD AFFORD IT IF NOT 4TH GEN PRELUDE VTEC IS PRETTY GOOD 2!!

i know nothing about preludes exept that they are overpriced, heavier than an integra, and have more power
-i love the h22 engine, i wish it was in my integra
-not sure about the handling of a prelude but out of the box my integra handled great
- gsr's are less pricey than most vtec preludes and in my opinion look better
- you will hang with/beat alot of cars (like 1.8t's, se-r's, older stang gt's, 80's firebirds, vr6's) at stoplights as soon as you know how to drive your gsr properly
- this is an integra forum so most people in here will probably say gsr, and with either car you are going to notice a world of difference from your older integra

ps. any vtec prelude or gsr in good condition for a good price should be considered, because you wont find too many

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

if you don't want to mod then i'd go with the prelude. the gsr's are fun, but the prelude has a better stock portfolio.

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

If you aren't modding, I'd suggest the 5th gen SH hands down. Better handling, faster, more fun. Plus, everyone has an integra.

Baller man.. I'm not trying to flame, but it's hard to read/comprehend when you don't fully type out words, and don't use punctuation. Thanks.

you can't go wrong with either. both are very high performance cars.

The Prelude is the faster car, both in short and long.

Keep in mind the aftermarket for integras is vast compared to that of preludes.

you can't really go wrong with either, both cars perform very well.

-4th gen prelude vtecs can hang with type-r's
-5th gen preludes are a little slower due to weight, but can still compare easily to gsr's
-integras handle better due to being lighter (except for maybe the 5th gen prelude type sh's, but i still think the integra should edge it out)
-aftermarket for integras is vast compared to that of preludes

I'm sure you'll be happy with your car, whichever one you get.

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

I raced a 4th gen and I had him beat by the top of 2nd gear he couldn't hang with me.

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

I doubt the Prelude responds better to mods. Mine certainly isn't too responsive.

Preludes are nice because you take people by suprise. People generally think Preludes are slower than GSR's. (<-- bull)

Re: Integra GSR vs. Prelude VTEC

yup preludes are way faster than GSR + in my place, the newer GSR compared to the Ludes are more expensive...
GSR is more luxury i think
