noob Aurora questions

Hey all,

I've had a casual interest in Aurora's for a little while. I was just wondering, what are the factory performance numbers? HP, Torque, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. I'm mostly interested in the newest body design (don't know when that started....98? 00??). Also, what's the going rate for a used Aurora these days? Something with maybe 80,000 or so on the odometer. Or maybe 50k, who knows. Whatever's most prevelent out there...how much would it go for? Also, what are some common issues? Are they a pretty reliable car or not really? How do they respond to mods? I imagine there isn't much of an aftermarket for Auroras. Thanks!

Re: noob Aurora questions

LOL..welcome to Aurora World

95-99 Gen1 Aurora
4.0L V8 250 HP, 260 TQ
Comp ratio 10.5:1
Look for RPO code QQX in the trunk and V-rated tires, this is the Autobahn package which has a gear ratio of 3.71:1 and a speed governor at 140mph

Not a lot of aftermarket that I can find...RSM racing is the local for me

www.rsm-racing.com

The body changed in 2000 and a newer smaller engine was offered, the 3.5L V6 ShortStar. The 4.0L was available as well, with the same numbers as the previous gen. Not sure if Autobahn was offered.

The V8 thats in there has been know to have oil leak problems. I have not experienced it on my 96 however it could have been fixed before I got it.

I'm sure the rest of the guys have lots to add!

The 95-99 Aurora has 10.3 to 1 compression not 10.5 and there where no 2000 Auroras as that was a transition year between the Classic and new body styles. One big difference between the 95-99 and 2001-2003 is that Olds recomends that only premium fuel be used in the Classics and the 2001-2003 can get by on the low grade stuff. The newer Auroras are also slightly lighter so they are a little faster.

Re: noob Aurora questions

All of the new gen have the same final drive ratio of the 95-99 Autobahn. Don't know about the top speed.

Re: noob Aurora questions

My apologies for the incorrect comp ratio. 10.3:1

Re: noob Aurora questions

I looked at the classifieds on cars.com and the new body style auroras started at about $10,000 and went up from there, at least for those with low miles.
