Holden Monaro released?

I didn't think they were out yet.

I spotted one on the road today done in a similar yellow to the ITRs. Looked sweet, but it looks like the handling looks like it needs a bit more tuning - cornering it had a bit of roll to it - not what I'd expect from a V8 sports coupe. Still - If I had the money lying around, I'd take one over a WRX or other car in that bracket.

Im not surprised its cornering isnt great, at the end of the day its still a commodore which is a big car.

Its not my sort of car, Id much prefer an M3 and I cant imagine that a GTS or whatever the top version is will be much cheaper than one either.

You wont get an HSV one for the price of a WRX

I'm sorry, Pete. That's a rediculous comparison. A rear drive V8 engined 2 door sports coupe in the $65k+ category VS 4 door AWD turbo four banger in the low $40k category. For the price you are talking about you could get an STi (new one) or even better for my preferance a mint Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec with less than 40k kms, exhaust and mags from some nice Jap importer. Or an S2000, being a Honda forum. Imagine what you oculd do to a 10k civic for that price. I'm thinking H22a conversion with the works. AWD, full house interior, turbo, 20" wheels the lot. Schweet. Oh, and they started handing out customer Monaros about 2 months ago I beleive. It's just that the waiting list is so long that not many people have taken delivery yet.

Heh - I'm sick of Japanese turbos - you can't move for stumbling over one. WRXs to me are nothing special - any boy and his drug money has one Seriously - if it wasn't for the fact that they won so many WRCs, would they be so popular. Likewise the Evo Lancers etc. I've owned a lot of cars in the 18 years I've been driving, most of them Japanese. For once I've seen something I like

I used to hate domestics - now I actually like the SS Commodores and the monaro for a nice relaxing car with a lot of grunt.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. If you compared it to the Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC-wateva) 2 door V8 coupe from Japan, then I wouldn't have commented. And I do beleive that the WRX would have been popular if not for it's rallying history. Once a few people have them and tell others the wonderful package of turbo four power and AWD with a lot of other fruit, others woul dbe tempted.

LOL....Drug money...Haha.....too true.

I agree that WRX's a pretty common, and are like the excels of sports cars. You see them everywhere. I know I'd prefer something a bit more unique.

Monaros do look ok, although I would have preferred a slightly more sportier look to them. They still look a bit too similar to base model commodore. You won't see me driving one though. I probably can't reach the pedals :silly2:

heh - I'm 5' 6" and I can drive one - whith the seat forward admittedly I went for a run in one - if I had the money I'd snap one up over most japanese cars. The torque in the sucker was awesome! Plus it was a dream to drive - it might look a bit sloppy from the outside but the thing is tight behind the wheel. Not ITR tight - but better than the MY00 WRX I drove a few months ago.
