supra Twin turbos on a mr2

ok someone prolly has asked this question a million times on this forum but i didnt see it, and im curious to see if it's true. is it possible to fit the 93 say supra twin turbos on a 91 mr2 turbo.

Also is a single turbo from a twin turbo supra bigger than a single turbo on the mr2, if u know what i mean, would it fit on the mr2?
thanks

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

There would be no point in putting the Supra twins on the MR2 ... it would be waste of $$$.

The older supras that had single turbos had the CT26 ... the turbo MR2 also uses the Ct26.

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

seems like a simple ct20b or a t3/t4 upgrade would be easier and cheaper...

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

racerh03, the twinturbo Supras never had a single turbo from the factory ... it is an upgrade that the owners do for more power.

There are many, many turbo upgrades out there for the MR2. It is much wiser to choose one of those since they are sized for the power of a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter ... not a 6 cyl 3.0 liter.

i doubt that the mr2 would have enough exhaust flow to spool twins... and the supra ct26 was bigger... but like everyone else said... i would just stick with a turbo meant for a 4 cylinder...

twin turbos on mr2's

I have done a rather extensive search for info regarding mr2 turbos and twinning them. The newest version of the supra has 2 much smaller turbo's that add boost at about 3500rpm and 4500-5000rpm respectively (or something like that) The ct26 is actually a larger turbo than those. The ct26 is meant for street performance. This means most horses are gained at lower rpms. Bigger greddy turbos, for example are meant for racing and therefore unless specifically tuned for street u wont get much hp out of them until 5-6000rpm. I have seen one mr2 with two turbos like the supra but realistically little would be gained in hp from this expensive modification other than excessive wear on your engine. So, yes you can fit 2 turbos in an mr2 engine bay but u wouldnt gain anymore from it than adding one large greddy T67 or T88.

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

well i wouldnt even think to put a T67 or T88 on an mr2 cuz i would like to make power at a lower speed instead of after 100mph. maybe like a TDO6 turbo or something.

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

yes, the tdo6 is an ideal upgrade for a street mr2. I live outside of toronto and there is an mr2 here at my auto shop that runs a T88. It has 1000cc injectors. It is strictly a race setup and the guy has a parachute on it. Apparently it has taken a Porchse GT2 in the quarter mile. Well over $90000 in upgrades. anyway, it shows how extreme u can go if u want. but the tdo6 , according to greddy can get u up to 450hp. Not bad for a turbo that uses the factory manifold.

Re: supra Twin turbos on a mr2

No, I havent been in it. I just met the guy but i have seen the car. He wants to sell me his "old" turbo, an HKS ceramic bearing race Turbo. I dont know exactly what kind it is but its not he sport turbo u see on the hks site. Its just too too big for street, i'd be going sideways in 4th gear. I honestly dont know how fast he's got it but Mike @ DL motorsports here has told me he's doing high nines. He should know cuz he built the damn thing.
