engine swap

i have a 19 celica and the 4afe engine is just not enough. i was wondering what a good engine swap would be and how much money/work would be involved

all depends on how much ur willing to spend...

theres a 5sfe- comes from a gt/ gts.... 2.2 liter and is a good engine but theres not many aftermarket parts for it. can spend from $500 to $1000

3sge- i think as equal as the 5sfe u can spend anywhere from $500 to $1500 but can be converted into a....

3sgte- a turboed out intercooled kick ass engine from an alltrack, this is really expensive thogh cuz u also have to get a new tranny and a clutch that can handle all the power... and new wiering harness ecu etc... ur guna end up spending a shit load of cash.. expect around 5k for this

5sfe- 135 hp

3sge- 135 hp (i think)

3sgte- 190 for st168 (1ST GEN)
220 for st 188 (2ND GEN)
and 260 for st 205 (3RD GEN)

5sfe and 3sge are basically just drop ins... they both mount to ur existing moter mounts and i dont think that many alterations are needed (other than getting a 2sge ecu, things like that)

the 3sgte on the other hand dosent work with a lot of things... best thign to do here is find out what parts u need for it and have a shop take care of it...not really worth the hassle doing it by urslef better to have the mechanics do it

u probably wont find one from a celica nowadyas... most likely find em from 2000 corollas or sumthing...look on ebay they usually have em

oh btw alot of parts are actualyl interchangable between the 3 engine like downpipes and exhaust manifold ....etc
